To Create the Consortium Calendar:

(also available as a Word doc -- To Create the Consortium Calendar)

  1. Download the calendar shell. This is a Word document, calendarShell.doc.
  2. Create the ongoing events section. This opens up as a web page. In your browser, do ‘Save as’ and save the file as ongoing.html. (name doesn’t really matter, but the extension does.)
  3. Create the dated events section. Again, opens as a webpage, and save as dates.html.
  4. Create the event description section. One more time, opens as a webpage, save as events.html.
  5. Open all four documents in Word. For the html documents, you have to open them from Word, you can’t just double-click them to open.
  6. Go to the ongoing.html document. Do ctrl-a, ctrl-c to copy all of it to the clipboard.
  7. Go to the calendarShell.doc. Select the words ‘paste here’ under the Ongoing section, and do ctrl-v to paste the clipboard contents.
  8. Now go to the dates.html document. Again, ctrl-a, ctlr-v to put it all on the clipboard.
  9. Go to calendarShell.doc. Select the words ‘paste here’ under the Dated Events section, and do ctrl-v to paste. Hopefully, all the dated events will show up in the proper format. If not, it probably means you didn’t highlight just the words ‘paste here.’ Hit undo and try again to see if it works.
  10. Now go to events.html document. Ctrl-a, ctrl-v to put it on the clipboard.
  11. Back calendarShell.doc, highlight ‘paste here’ under Event Descriptions, and it should all appear, properly formatted.
  12. calendarShell.doc, double-click the heading on the first page so you can edit the dates.
  13. Still in calendarShell.doc, go to the second page, double-click the heading and change the dates there as well.
  14. Now save the document.  You’ll probably have to do some editting to get it to look the way you want, and add in the ‘About the Consortium’ section.
